BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY

Christopher B. Shiver, PE

Vice President – Principal Engineer

Graduated from Georgia Tech in 1981 with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree and was employed immediately by Georgia Power Co. (GPC) as a project engineer for their steam-electric generating stations until 1988.  While at GPC received extensive training in mechanical, electrical, structural and nuclear engineering and during the final three years was the lead engineer for a safety and incident evaluation group that reported directly to senior management.  Mr. Shiver has been with C&I since 1988, where he has had responsible charge of the Professional Engineering and Technical Staff since 2000.  He has diverse mechanical/electrical/structural engineering and testing responsibilities relative to failure investigations, safety, design, and products and materials testing.  Investigation experience includes fire and explosion losses, construction and industrial accidents, electrical and mechanical system failures, and machine safety.  He has been involved in several mechanical, electrical and civil/structural design projects including as lead engineer.  Mr. Shiver is a registered professional engineer in seven southeastern states and is an elected full member in ten nationally or internationally recognized professional societies.  He also serves on committees in several of those societies responsible for producing codes, standards and technical publications.
